about

Dub Museum is the latest release by Toronto electronic music scene veteran Heiki (Hey-Key). The six song album is his fourth full-length under his own name, following his Sauna Porch Recordings Co. album and the collaborative The North Shore record with ambient duo, dreamSTATE.

The Dub Museum is a private collection of sounds and memories of sounds. Archival documents of past moments, filtered through experience and reworked for the present and the future.

Released in limited 150 copies cassette format, packaged in a special, recycled chipboard box with four art card inserts, Dub Museum also sees release as a limited 150 copy compact disc and as a digital download. Three videos were created for the album, aesthetically tied to the album concept of exploring the old to create the new.

Heiki blends ambient textures, dub baselines and acid tweakery to form a large and occasionally vague soundscape. Heavily manipulated voice snippets, lifted in part from Estonian children’s folk story records from the early 70’s, float in and out of the cavernous mix. Most of the tracks hover around the nine to ten minute length, allowing for the music to include slow dramatic build ups and extended ambient breakdowns.

The album sees official release during the Tallinn Music Week in Estonia, where Heiki will perform the album at several showcase events.

Three videos have been produced for Dub Museum.
